Elocin Caithness, an educated widow and her young son are haunted by dreams connecting them to a serial killer. With her own knowledge in herbology, and the help of Detective Altmore, she searches for her true mixed heritage. In doing so, she finds her 'lost' twin brother and who her parents were - a disowned son of the wealthy Collins family and his sorceress wife from the generally maligned Tinsmiths or Irish Travelers or Irish Gypsies. This leads the trail to exposing her parents' real murderer and bringing this culprit to justice.
