Synopsis/Details
Stedman Wright is a middle-aged wanna-be writer suffering from a severe lack of motivation on his current job as a car salesmen. He awakens on his birthday, determined to start writing his book and live out his delusions of grandeur. Shortly after making a birthday wish at the demands of his mother, he discovers that he suddenly has the ability to write things that come true in his real life. With this in mind, he creates an entirely new personality for himself that balloons into a grossly exaggerated version of someone cool and a totally opposite version of his former self. This in turn sparks some suspicions and perplexed thoughts among his co-workers, they know something isn't right. Therefore three of them, Mike Caruso, Jerry Sams and Richie Matthews embark upon several shenanigans trying to discover what is the deal with this new found success and personality of Stedman. When all their attempts fail, they try one last ditch effort by kidnapping Stedman's only friend at work, a young Afican American male named Reggie. Reggie is stripped of all his clothing except his boxers and held in a basement and given marijuana and alcohol to drink before the three men get down to business as to why he had been kidnapped, they want to know Stedman's secrete! If anybody would know about it, it would be Reggie they assume. Sworn to secrecy Reggie tries his best efforts to not give the secrete away but after being tied up, stripped of his clothing, held against his will and tickled to death with a feather duster, he reluctantly gives tells them everything.
Equipped with this new knowledge, Mike, Jerry and Richie conjure up a plan to steal Stedman's beloved laptop computer and smash it into a million pieces, so that what he writes can no longer be made manifest in real life. The three men are successful in the plan and once they smash his beloved computer on the ground right before Stedman's eyes, he suddenly awakens! It had all been a crazy dream! But he truly is a wanna be writer that hasn't written a thing yet and a mundane car salesmen on the verge of losing his job. However, because of this dream, he now has a story to tell. He goes into work, quits his job as a car salesmen, writes his book based on the dream and it becomes a National best seller and placed on Oprah's book club.
