Synopsis/Details
“The Journeyers” is an action-drama about a group of teenagers, led by Danny Covington. They learn their homes are sought by Walnut Energy, who secretly wants to tear them down for hydraulic fracking. Danny’s out of work father, Ken, is hired by Walnut to sell his neighbors on the plan, but Ken thinks Walnut is going to redevelop the historic homes into a community similar to Williamsburg.
The Journeyers don’t want their gang to be broken up, so they plot to stop Walnut. They will have to obtain 5,000 signatures from around the state prior to a deadline. It’s quite doubtful given it’s two weeks away. In addition, any action the Journeyers take jeopardizes Ken’s job, and Danny is hamstrung by elder-sitting his grandfather, who is suffering from Stage 2 Alzheimer’s. Despite being told to stay out of it, Danny and the Journeyers convince a neighbor, Carly, to drive them statewide to collect enough signatures.
Things don’t go according to plan though when Danny’s grandfather discloses a journal of the houses he built that may or may not also have a treasure map. Walnut learns of a group of teens called The Journeyers that are trying to stop them and Walnut puts a menacing figure on their trail. Nate babbles about a hidden treasure in his old home. The map is discussed but the team faces major complications to first, get the necessary signatures. When Ken learns Walnut’s true intentions, his loyalties are tested. The climatic sequence combines a race against time to stop the evil Walnut company with a quest to unravel the mystery of the treasure map and a tug at the heart about friendships and family, and the lengths you’ll go to in order to preserve both.
