Synopsis/Details
Anne, a thirty-something assistance booth worker, is struggling with her mundane job and suppressed ambitions as an artist. One night, while waiting for the last train in a dark London tunnel, Anne finds herself inexplicably drawn to an ornate, waterlogged book left in an empty train carriage. The book, with swirling deep-blue gemstones, seems to carry Anne into disturbing visions of her possible future. Anne sees multiple versions of herself — one as a successful artist basking in the admiration of a man named Luke, and another locked in an emotionally complex relationship with Eric, torn between love and ambition. She experiences haunting scenes, including a tranquil campsite that becomes a scene of sudden death, where Luke floats face down in a lake. The enigmatic book keeps pulling Anne into these visions, portraying moments where her art and ambition lead her to disturbing actions and success at a great cost. The turning point arrives when Anne, in a vision, becomes famous for her artwork depicting her husband’s death, a chilling piece that garners immense acclaim but shrouds her in controversy. As Anne becomes more enraptured by this future, she realizes she has the power to make it real — if she dares to tread the dark path ahead. In the end, Anne finds herself at a critical juncture. When she meets Luke at an art gallery, the same as her visions, her past and future collide. She chooses to follow Luke, resigned to the inevitable path the book showed her, ready to embrace the consequences in exchange for realizing her artistic dreams.
