Synopsis/Details
Redner Grunwald was introduced to weaponized bionics from a young age.
A terrible human, if you can even call them that. There's so little flesh left. It's nearly all been mechanized. They're bitter, and hateful. Their soul has seen only the worst that the world has to offer. It's had an effect on them, no matter what they might say.
Completely by accident, Redner discovers a sort of immortality. Ten, their mentor in bionics, doesn't believe this technology will be public forever. He believes that it will eventually be stolen by the Council; a mysterious society that employs the world's finest hired killers.
Redner performs ridiculously well, becoming a mercenary for the Council. They achieve fame, and amass a great fortune, flourishing in their new career. They showed the world just how dark a human can become.
This changes when they meet Victor. When Victor told Red that he's their son, it evoked the last remaining shred of humanity in them. This spurs them on to laying siege to the Council, their previous employers.
They failed to kill them all. They now call themselves the Council Remnants, and they spend every last minute hunting them down. Redner decided to flee to another planet to protect Victor, and their old Council-Member, Avery.
When they arrive, they are ambushed by the Remnants, and almost killed, sending their soul into a state of limbo. They meet an old friend here. One who taught Redner all about bionics.
Ten insists that Redner fights for their safety, until nothing of their shell remains.
Redner succeeds, brilliantly, filled with the want to protect someone other than themselves. Despite what everyone had thought, a good spirit lies within.
It's never too late to start over. It's never too late to change who we are or want to be.
