Synopsis/Details
One Piece x Game of Thrones x The Boys
Vanessa C. Spider is an introverted young girl in her early twenties bouncing from place-to-place in search of a map. She helps a timid teenage girl named Alice Anderson to help find a military base to search for it. However, she soon learns the true complexities of the world when they witness an incident at a tavern between a bounty hunter (Lola Morson) and a gang of Pilots.
To make matters worse, a skilled thief and navigator (Carl Ponders) also enters the ongoing race for the map which Spider is looking for. Once the Air Force make their move, Spider and Alice must make the hard choice between keeping a promise or their life-long ambitions.
Spider is a protagonist in the same vein as Frieren from Beyond Journey’s End and Hughie Campbell from The Boys. In the sense that her narrow-mindedness blinds her from other perspectives and due to her troubled childhood, has left her unable to socialize and discuss her problems. Her character arc is about learning to embrace her past and redefine her identity.
By the end of the pilot, Spider finds herself with the map she needs to fulfill her goal but at the cost of abandoning her new friend Alice and accompanied by Lola and Carl who also want the map for their own reasons. The main plot of the series follows a more sequential format of conflicts which challenge Spider’s strengths and weaknesses, as well as enhance the worldbuilding of this fictional universe.
