The Pygmies

A dark comedy-drama based on the 'true story' of a sweet-natured boy turned cold conflicted criminal, on a villainous mission to find meaning in 'the material'. SEASON 1 SYNOPSIS Set on the outskirts of London's East End, bubbling in the sweltering heat of 1976, against a backdrop of a society teetering on the brink of civil unrest. Submerged in privation, racism, and the rapid decline, of a working-class community, living standards are on the slide. Within this sea of moral hazard lives a melting pot of crime. Tony has big plans. Unfortunately there’s a snag. He's banged up and at the mercy of a sadist's savage game. Bad blood bleeds, young skin burns, bruises sink deep through to broken bone. He must smash through walls with his heart of stone. Once freedom has been won and scores are duly settled, with the help of a Grandmother, a Lord, and a Gangster left disheveled ...Tony slams down hard on the pedal to the metal. In a dogfight with his demons, comes a slow dance with the devil. Reunited with his childhood friends and co-conspirators, ‘The Pygmies’ are on a mission to thieve the riches and break the law. With their long-time adversary hot on their tail, they duck, they dive, they win and they fail. If 'The Peaky Blinders’ and ‘Only Fools and Horses’ were to bear a bastard child, the tales of the ‘The Pygmies’ would be born into the wild.
