Synopsis/Details
Inspector Allen, standing at the bow of the United Nation’s patrol boat, has almost caught up with the trafficker’s when the slaver’s boat suddenly accelerates. “NO! NO!” she shouts when she realises that the traffickers have lightened their load by throwing one or two of their captive women, still in chains, overboard. Jewel has planned her escape from witch’s school for months, so she feels elated as she climbs out the window of her spartan dormitory room. In her haste and the inky black night, she runs into a tree branch that knocks her unconscious. When she awakes in the back of a filthy van, she finds that she has been scooped up by a vicious gang of human traffickers. Six other women, some of them crying, some stunned, and all of them in chains, occupy the van. Jewel mixes a concoction that includes her own urine and uses it to corrode the women’s locks. With the trafficker’s pursuing them, the women flee through the dense Albanian forest. Tired and hungry they take shelter in a cave, but a hungry bear forces them to swim to freedom. Meanwhile, Inspector Allen, informed by satellite photos, hires a local taxi driver and begins searching the forest for the women. The residents of a small village seem welcoming at first but once they discover that Jewel is a witch, they tie her to a stake in the middle of the town square and prepare to set her on fire. The other women rescue Jewel and together they escape back into the forest where a matron and her band of Roma give the women a ride in their horse drawn wagons. After having their butts kicked by a gang of Neo-Nazi’s, the traffickers catch up with the women but Jewel devises and executes a clever plan and the trafficker’s find themselves bound to trees. Inspector Allen delivers the Coup de Gras to Vlad then gives the women a ride in the taxi with the bound traffickers in the trunk.

The Writer: James Russell

Two weeks after taking the photograph that would win him the prestigious Canadian Press Photographer of the Year Award in 1992, James left photojournalism. With five completed screenplays in hand, he set off for Los Angeles where he attended classes at UCLA's film school and networked. The following year James was chosen over dozens of applicants to study at the Canadian Film Centre where he wrote, produced, and directed his first short, The Red Car . Between 1992 and 1997, James worked as a film industry story consultant, while finding the time to complete nine feature length screenplays, two television dramas and the screenplay for You've Got The Key , a searing drama produced by Rhino… Go to bio
