THE RETURN A detached house with full moon, and swirling clouds. (SUPERIMPOSE 1966) DAVE (20) MELLISSA (13) are lying in each others arms. High street (SUPERIMPOSE 8 YEARS LATER) Dave is driving a bus, Mellissa boards the bus. They catch up, Dave now being married, Mellissa living with her boyfriend. Dave and JANE (26) are in hospital with their baby. After leaving them he travels to Mellissa’s former home. He watches Mellissa’s sister CAROLE (13) in bed through the French windows. BRENDA (62) Dave’s mum is staying to look after their two children. Dave arrives home late. Dave drives a bus out of the garage. Back home he’s watching TV when Brenda arrives back from visiting the hospital. Carole is seen getting into bed. Dave and Brenda go to bed. Dave sneaks out of a ground floor window. He runs and jogs to Mellissa’s, former home, and murders and rapes Carole. KIM (45) Carole’s mother discovers her, and screams. Dave is seen driving a bus. Detectives WILLIAM’S (45) and JACKSON (30) are at the murder scene. Mellissa turns up to be with her mother. William’s and Jackson interview Kim and Mellissa. Detectives get forensic report, two blood types at scene, attacker injured. On the bus Dave and Mellissa discuss the murder. At the funeral a young man is questioned. ROY (23) and Mellissa at their apartment, talk about the funeral. Mellissa’s house (SUPERIMPOSE 38 YEARS LATER) Mellissa’s back home on the phone. Cafe SUE (59) and Mellissa having a coffee. Dave now (67) watching cold cases on TV. Mellissa on phone can see an old man outside her house. Police station detective JAMES (45) and detective ROBERTS (30) discus cold cases. Old man again seen at the house. Mellissa follows him to a cafe, she takes a picture, then realises it’s Dave. She shows the photo to Sue. Melissa and Sue confront Dave in the cafe, showing him a photo of himself and Mellissa in 1966. Dave leaves the cafe with Mellissa for a walk and talk. Sue picks up his cup and cigarette buts for D.N.A. Testing. They go to the police about Dave with the photos and things for D.N.A. Testing. Dave and Mellissa are at a restaurant. At home Melissa gets a call from the police. Dave’s D.N.A. Matches the killers. He turns up at the house for a date, Sue and Mellissa beat him to death with shovels, then place him in a ready dug grave. The house is seen with a full moon, and swirling clouds. FADE OUT.
