What would happen if we knew our future? To gain his magical powers, Mierta McKinnon, endured a harrowing ritual called the Rite of Wands, a psychological evaluation containing glimpses of the past, present, and future, which challenges one to control their destiny. Mierta is fated to die of the plague. Mierta's determined to change his future by putting a stop to the plague. But when the Ambassador of Edesia demands the head of Mierta's younger brother, Lochlann, after the accidental death of his son, Mierta must add saving his brother's life to his goal. Anya, Queen of Vandolay, tricks Mierta into believing she'll save Lochlann, so, he bends the knee. But owing his allegiance to the queen will cost Mierta dearly, especially when she orders him to murder the king and his concubine! Which was Anya's plan all along. To succeed and save as much of the kingdom as possible, Mierta has three choices: serve the Queen willingly, turn to the foulest of deeds and magic, or humble himself and get aide. But Mierta is anything but humble... How will this unruly apothecarist manage to save his own life while also thwarting this evil queen's plans? EPISODE STRUCTURE: Each episode Mierta comes one step closer to discovering just how far Anya's willing to go - deception, manipulation, murder, etc, to get what she wants.
