Synopsis/Details
A modern day look at North Korean refugees, told through four separate stories that are connected in one way or another. An "Escape Broker," who helps North Korean defectors across borders for a living, finds he must sacrifice his morality to stay in business. A former "North Korean Officer" uses his past experience and knowledge to retaliate against the regime he was once a part of. A "Priest" realizes that leading a discourse is nothing compared to taking action. A privileged young girl has her life thrown into turmoil and soon discovers that she too must eventually cross the river.

The Writer: Steven Kim

Steven Kim lives in Fort Lee, New Jersey with his wife Sunny who works at a mathematics academy. Having grown up on Scorcese, Tarantino and Hong Kong action films, Steven writes about "citizens of the counter culture," stories that often focus on the socio-political underbelly of the global community. His writing is inspired by characters that reflect their environment, whether it be inside the urban landscape of the third-world or within the marbled halls of the US Senate. Approaching writing from a social perspective, Steven prefers movies that portray the visceral nature of the common man's struggle. His favorite film of all time is Bicycle Thieves by Vittorio De Sica. Go to bio
