Also, Mike's life in a nutshell: Born in England, grew up in New Zealand, spent a couple of years in Italy as a Navy brat before joining the Navy himself and traveling some more, courtesy of his favorite uncle, Sam. Hopped a freighter when his enlistment was up, headed for the Mediterranean. Got off in Egypt so he could climb the pyramids, during which he discovered, to his surprise, that he is afraid of heights.
