Synopsis/Details
The Talks At an exclusive luxury hotel resort, two alleged ruling despots - Arab King Wakil and African Dr Zilla - from adversarial ;rogue states’ are brokering a peace talks deal. They don't have a common language, so when one of their translators - Auntie Mae - gets sick, the talks are thrown into chaos. The resort's in-house language expert, Pinki Williams - a young Asian American woman - is drafted in as the new translator. As a customer service expert - and part-time refugee advocate - she has little regard for the trite deal nor the leaders themselves, yet she is very attracted to suave translator, Kefo Khan. Kefo turns out to be the Arab king’s secret bastard son and he has a reciprocal crush on Pinki. Because of outsized egos, some purposeful mistranslation and a rogue spy drone, the talks are stalling. But as they are finally coming to an agreement and about to sign an accord, it's revealed that the deal has more to do with oil than peace. Auntie Mae returns and - angry at the delays - blames, then ejects, Pinki. Circumstances get worse when silent assassins infiltrate the resort and start hunting our ‘despots’. Kefo leads the group to find safety and he rediscovers Pinki just in the nick of time when, amid flying bullets, they escape to her tiny staff bedroom and barricade themselves in. Brawling between Auntie and Pinki ensues, seeing Auntie Mae banished, only to hook up with an undercover assassin. Then, after helping Dr Zilla patch up the shot King, Pinki - with true common sense and logic - pushes the leaders towards a real peace agreement. On TV news, there's footage of the real ‘rogues’ being arrested (including a vexed Auntie Mae) - and it’s revealed our two leaders are bypassing owned media with their own, live online stream. In the fast-popular stream, King Wakil and President Zilla are now conciliatory, announcing a ceasefire, but saying there won't be a peace deal; yet there will be new Peace Talks in three months. Pinki then underscores how women’s rights are integral to human rights and finally - deliciously - she and Kefo smooch.
