Synopsis/Details
In a peaceful idyllic farm village off the coast of Newfoundland, a young woman carries a great burden in her heart. Heavier than any cattle or half grown hog, or meat crate she's had to haul around, is the burden of guilt. She can't shake the feeling that what happened to her father was somehow her fault. She can't prove it. He's a grown man, who took a dangerous job out in the unpredictable seas, but all those tacky plastic play things she keeps around serves as a solemn reminder that he risked his life for her. Did she tell him to take that job? No. Could her old man have taken any other job in his life. Of course. It doesn't need to make sense. It's old fashioned Catholic guilt.
As fate would have it, turns out old Art didn't die in the storm. He was shipwrecked onto an island. It isn't until years later when Bridget finds out, and fate hands her the opportunity to face her guilt. Is this a mistake? Are there better people more qualified? Nobody but them knows Art is alive. The police won't help. The company that sent them out is so small that that no currently working there knows the original founders. Bridget is young, but she'd be freakishly strong if she were ten years older, and she spent her whole life perfecting the art of the track and find mission catching run away hogs. Besides, it's just an island. Right?
Wrong. As it turns out, history repeats itself in this place, for eternity in fact. Spirits are kept alive to endure an agonizing cycle of torture, execution and reincarnation. And despite being dead, the men running this place can still very much harm the living. It's a literal hell on earth written in no history book, situated in the middle of the ocean. Even though Bridget finds out how Art managed to survive here it might not be enough for her. Her father is innocent, but he's set to be executed in a matter of days. Now it's up to Bridget to perform the greatest prison break out that history will never see. Can she do it? Read and find out.
