Synopsis/Details
It's New Year's Eve in Bangkok, and the city is alive with celebration.
However, one man is not joining the festivities. Han Thanwareth, the star of the hit drama "Destiny Always Wins," has it all but finds himself alone at home, indulging in too much whiskey while watching the celebrations unfold on television.
A crisis (he runs out of alcohol) prompts him to disguise himself and venture to a nearby 7/11. On his way back, he is recognized, leading to a misunderstanding with some fans that results in him accidentally breaking a man's nose.
Han returns to his building but finds himself trapped in the elevator with a FoodPanda delivery boy named True.
Over the next few hours, they share stories and get to know each other. True, who recently returned from studying abroad, is unaware of Han's fame but is drawn to his confidence and charm. Han, in turn, is captivated by True's optimism and radiant smile. He realizes he is with someone who doesn't know who he is, allowing him to let his guard down in many ways.
As midnight approaches, the two get swept up in the moment and nearly share a kiss. However, the elevator resumes movement, jolting them back to reality. In a panic, Han exits the lift as soon as the doors open.
The following morning, Wiliawan Insree, the owner of Sunset Studios and the woman who discovered Han, visits his penthouse. Videos of the "nose-breaking" incident from the night before have gone viral, jeopardizing the studio's reputation due to Han's reckless behavior. Han, however, is preoccupied with memories of True and their time in the elevator.
"Destiny Always Wins" is financially supporting the entire studio thanks to its success at the ICONS, a public voting awards show. Wiliawan needs another year of wins to avoid potential closure. Yet, Han despises his one-dimensional character, Mann, and yearns to star in a feature film, highlighting the ongoing conflict between him and Wiliawan.
Meanwhile, True meets his best friend Leah for coffee. After recounting the previous night's events, they both agree that men can be disappointing. Leah encourages True to stay strong after recently ending a bad relationship.
Leah shares her excitement about starting a new job as a PA on her favorite show, "Destiny Always Wins!" She shows True a magazine cover featuring the two leads. As True gazes at Han's picture, he realizes this is the man from last night! Leah is skeptical until a news video in the café confirms Han's actions from the previous evening, matching True's description.
LEAH: Maybe this new job is a sign! Perhaps it's my "destiny" to reconnect you two... or at least help you get back together.
True, however, remains uninterested, content with his life as it is. Plus, he believes "superstars don't fall for delivery drivers!" Later, while on deliveries, True reflects about the events of last night and the difficulties of starting fresh in Bangkok.
That evening, we find Wiliawan at home, on the phone with her secretary, planning for the following day and strategizing damage control for the broken nose incident. She mentions how miserable Han seemed earlier and that she must come up with a way to improve his situation for the studio's financial success.
When her dinner arrives, she continues her conversation with the delivery boy, who turns out to be True. After the call, she discovers that True has set up a lovely dinner presentation for her. True explains that he was raised to treat others as he wishes to be treated. The same charm that attracted Han also impresses Wiliawan, making her admire his politeness, efficiency, and special qualities.
True reveals that he is a recent film school graduate with dreams of becoming a director. Wiliawan smiles at his ambition.
The next morning, Han is stuck in Bangkok traffic on his way to the studio when he spots a delivery boy on a motorcycle, dressed like True. He instructs his driver to follow him, leading to a fun and frantic high-speed chase. Unfortunately, when they catch up, it turns out it's not True.
Han reaches Sunrise Studios and stops by the conference room for a quick coffee. Here, he meets Fern, the Line Producer for "Destiny Always Wins," who is one of Han's closest friends at the studio. Fern teases him about the "broken nose incident" but also holds him accountable, reminding him that his actions impact everyone, including the crew and fans. She questions his constant anger, suggesting it might stem from the show or something deeper.
Han later meets with Wiliawan, who has reflected on their previous conversation. She mentions meeting someone who reminded her of the importance of treating others with respect. Handing him a feature script titled "The Edge of Danger," she explains that if he stays out of trouble and the show performs well at the ICONS, he could film this movie between seasons three and four.
Grateful, Han promises to follow her guidance. Wiliawan reveals she has hired someone to help keep him out of trouble until the ICON Awards. As she opens the office door, True stands there, smiling but confused.
WILIAWAN: Meet your new shadow.
