Synopsis/Details
A day job with feet, Fran waits tables in Beverly Hills so her boyfriend Trevor can realize his dream of becoming a film director. On the eve of his film premiere, she returns home with the fab dress she is going to wear to find he has moved out, and taken their dogs, leaving her alone, poor, and humiliated. Sinking into depression, she loses her job, her apartment, everything. Out of money, Fran attempts to return the dress at the swank boutique where she purchased it. There she meets her guardian angel, Silvia, who covertly orchestrates her makeover. Looking prosperous and put-together, Fran stops by the restaurant where she used to work and meets a powerful Hollywood executive. A few misinformations later, Fran finds herself as the latest Head of Development for Geordan Kessler - a veteran of the film business. Blundering upwards, Fran becomes a fantastic exec, but her test is to wrangle in Trevor to do a picture for Kessler. Not above a little emotional blackmail, Fran pulls him into the fold. Enlisting the help of her assistant Colin and crashing in her friend Tracey’s studio, Fran starts sailing smoothly. After she grandstands hot director Westly Powers at a meeting, he wants to date her – she has a new car, great job, new clothes and a new love interest. She sort of couldn’t even care that Trevor is dating hot young actress Sofia Rose, but she’s determined to get back the dogs. Fran is the picture of perfect until Silvia falls ill. Fran tries to help her and finds Silvia’s ex-husband, and the tragedies Sylvia had to overcome to be the generous benefactor she is. Fran and Tracey move into Silvia’s place to take care of it. Her trusty assistant quits for a better opportunity – everything seems to be falling apart. Fran realizes there is a connection between Geordy and Silvia – who spills the beans on Fran’s past. When Geordy finds that Fran has been deceiving him, he fires her. Devastated by being fired and Silvia's death, Fran botches things with Westly, for good measure. The humiliation and despair keep coming as Trevor and Sofia Rose come to look at Silvia’s house. Things take a turn, though, when Sofia and Fran unexpectedly bond. When Sofia finds out about that Trevor took the dogs, she helps Fran to get them back. Triumphant and filled with alcohol, Sofia and Fran make plans to take over Hollywood – girl style.
