Synopsis/Details
Boisterous and larger-than-life Horace "Horse" Hadler is fed up with politics as usual and has decided to ride his horse to the Texas capital and present a petition to form a new state in west Texas. His plan is to show the "Liberals" what common sense is and how it works to keep our nation great.
Along the way, he interrupts his ride to visit his favorite niece, Allie Boozer, who is plagued with a chronic medical condition that is exacerbated by her family's money problems. Allie is excited to see her uncle, who she’s always called Uncle Horse. Her family, on the other hand, is not thrilled, because Horace likes to meddle and give them advice on how to live their lives.
Uncle Horse is angry when he finds out his niece has gone without her much-needed medication because money is tight due to Allie’s husband’s continued unemployment.
The strained relations come to a head when Allie has a medical emergency and her Uncle Horse is forced to make a choice that results in his spiritual awakening and ultimately brings his family closer together.
