Synopsis/Details
This work has no dialogue. As a WOMAN pours a bag of coffee beans into a grinder, one bean, C.B., bounces away and hits the dirty floor. After avoiding many obstacles, C.B. finds himself under a counter. C.B. notices three NAVY BEANS on the floor across from him. One of them, NAVY, waves at C.B. C.B. makes his way across the floor to meet Navy. Not only is he greeted by Navy, but also her father, BEAN DAD, and her mother, BEAN MOM. Navy's parents seem unhappy with Navy speaking to C.B. and pull her away from him. When C.B. tries to follow, Bean Dad pushes C.B. to the floor. The Navy Bean family leaves C.B. all alone. C.B. wakes later in the night. His attention is drawn to the bright lights of a circus made of scraps from the kitchen. C.B. goes to the circus tent. He sees the Navy Bean family in line to enter. C.B. waits in line to get in, but can't because he doesn't have a ticket. When he tries to walk in without a ticket, a GUMMI BEAR BOUNCER tosses C.B. over the tent. Inside the tent, Navy is upset with her father for what he did to C.B. On the other side of the tent, C.B tries to sneak under the flap. He comes face-to-face with another Gummi bouncer. The bouncer gives chase through the circus housing. As he tries to avoid the gummi, C.B. crashes into another coffee bean: the trapeze artist, ROBUSTO. C.B. accidently knocks Robusto unconscious. As C.B. gets ready to run again, he runs into a FRENCH FRY. The Fry looks C.B. up and down. He hands C.B. a spangly unitard with "ROBUSTO" written across the front. The Fry escorts C.B. past the angry Gummi, who recognizes C.B. Following a show by the onion MIREPOIX (which causes audience members to cry), C.B. arrives on the trapeze, dressed in the spangly unitard. Navy recognizes C.B. on the trapeze platform. When the house lights come up, C.B. scans the audience and sees Navy. C.B. watches as the the circus prepares for him to perform on the trapeze. C.B. tries to back away, but looks down to see the Gummi bouncer coming after him. C.B. is forced to get on the trapeze. He swings, but there's no one to catch him. In the stands, Navy leaves her parents. Bean Dad tries to stop her, but Navy leaves anyway. C.B's trapeze loses momentum. He dangles over the floor. The other trapeze swings toward C.B. It's Navy. She catches him. They swing to the opposite platform. Navy gives C.B. a kiss and the two embrace. Audience members cry as they watch the display. Turns out that the tears are from Mirepoix, who the RINGMASTER kicks out of the tent.
