Synopsis/Details
Charlie Mitchell was a great detective in his day, but he is now a retired widower. He has a daily, boring routine and wishes his daughter, Catherine, would stop pestering him to move-in with her. When he sees undercover cop, Mike Jamison, pull his gun on a perp outside his window, he is thrilled to give a statement down at the station. While there, a chair slips and Charlie hits his head on the desk and he passes out cold. He awakens in a hospital room, where Jamison recruits him to go undercover at a retirement home to investigate some recent thefts. Charlie excitedly agrees, much to Catherine’s dismay. Charlie acclimates to the ‘home’ and he befriends some residents: Walter and Benny who always play checkers, Gladys, the resident 92-year-old slut, Tim, a sleazy security guard and Tiffany, the bubble-headed blonde receptionist. He also meets 10-year-old, Sven, whose father also becomes a suspect. All of the residents and employees are slowly eliminated as suspects in the recent thefts. Surveillance footage is screened and the ID of the person, who recently broke in and stole an antique ring, proves it was a woman and the police arrest Tiffany. Charlie doesn’t believe she is the right suspect, but Jamison tells him that he’s done with the investigation and is free to go back home. Charlie refuses and decides to stay to continue without the support of the police department. Charlie continues to live at the home, doing his own investigating and he eventually figures out who is behind the thefts, but it’s much bigger than he can handle and when he tries to contact Jamison, he is told there’s nothing he can do. Charlie is kidnapped and held hostage, but Jamison has already been pulled off the case so Charlie has to figure out how to escape by himself. Jamison has a gut feeling something’s wrong when Charlie doesn’t answer his phone and he decides to go rogue and provide back-up to Charlie without the support of his Captain. But when they realize who is behind all of the thefts, will they both survive unscathed?
