Synopsis/Details
The story begins with Samuels family. They are a small family
of three, who are all devoted to their church, and its pastor.
The father, Sherman, drives his teen daughter to meet with the
pastor at his home to discuss an opportunity to be a youth
pastor in church.
Immediately after arrival, Sherman’s daughter, Robin is knocked
unconscious by way of chloroform, and a towel. Pastor Andy
Jackson, has his son Cameron, and the Deacon, Eddie Bryant,
carry Robin into a spare bedroom, where she is strapped to a
bed.
Suspicions of Robin possessing supernatural abilities, has
prompted her family to oblige the pastor in a forced exorcism
for her.
During the ritual, Robin twists, and squirms in agony, while the
leaders shout holy convictions, and bless her with Holy Oil.
Meanwhile, Michael Ross, the next-door neighbor to Pastor
Jackson, has passed out on his couch, after chasing a cocktail
of prescription pills with a bottle of liquor.
Michael gets up from the couch, to find that he has left his
incapacitated body behind. Now on the astral plane, Michael is
capable of exploring the world with his invisible spirit form.
Knowing this, he uses his astral body to spy on his neighbor,
who has an unusual number of cars parked out front of his house,
for the time of night. He comes upon a horrific site, where a
room full of people are praying, and shouting, while Robin
jolts, and squirms on the bed.
Unbeknownst to her praying parents however, the afflictions of
their daughter are not in fact demonic. The reality of the
matter is, Pastor Jackson actually also has access to the astral
plane, and is using his ability to commit a capital crime. The
cold-hearted minister is choking the life out of the poor,
defenseless teenager, in the presence of an audience, that is
none the wiser.
Shocked and appalled, Michael rushes back to his house. Being
shaken up that way, caused him so much stress, he almost forgot
he wasn’t in his normal state of being. He then goes to return
into his body, only to find that is missing.
In the second act, Michael wakes up, on the psych floor of a
hospital, and must prove that he did not intentionally inflict
harm on himself, by ingesting the multitude of sedatives that
were found in his body.
While in the hospital, he learns that his friend Giselle had him
rushed there, and he is now concerned for his friend. Not
knowing whether she’ll be a potential target for the church mob
squad, he requests that a police officer do a wellness checkup
on her.
Officer Ray Bassett agrees to check the location mentioned by
Michael. Ray also takes it upon himself to stop by Michael’s
place of employment. He explains the situation involving
Michael, to his boss, and the information results in Michael’s
dismissal.
Turned off by the police, Michael visit’s a local occult
bookstore, and requests information, and assistance. The
skeptical shopkeeper, Candace Dillard vets him, and discovers he
is much like her.
Revealing herself as a powerful woman with the ability to change
her appearance at will, she invites Michael to learn more.
They convene at a nearby cafe to pick each other’s brain. There,
Candace reveals to Michael that Officer Ray is in cahoots with
the sinister Pastor Jackson.
While in mid discussion, the two are joined by a barista, who
happens to be the daughter of Candace, Grace.
Once Candace and Grace break down the case, as a kill, or be
killed situation, the three draw up their battle plans.
Utilizing their individual specialized gifts, Michael gains
intel on their targets via the astral plane; Grace guards their
bodies, with protective charms, and offers backup, and Candace
acts as a mystically disguised decoy, while the three attempt to
take down Ray.
Posing as a cross-dresser, Michael lures Ray into a trap. The
plan however is foiled when Ray surprises everyone with mystical
abilities of his own.
Threatening the plotting crew with a levitating knife, by way of
his own telekinetic powers, their plan is unraveled.
Having underestimated Ray, the three must regroup, and devise a
new plan. They’ve revealed their identities, and their motive.
They are now in imminent, and immediate danger!
To bring this ordeal to a close, the three continue to play
offense. They lure the hunters into a new plot. In the final
confrontation, the three divert expectations when Michael
seemingly arrives at his home alone. This prompts the hunters to
swoop in, and attempt an elimination.
The two front line soldiers, Deacon Bryant, and Officer Ray are
quickly taken out by an ambush attack from Candace, and Grace.
The final player, Pastor Jackson uses the astral plane to sneak
into the fight.
Michael however is delayed in joining the battle. He struggles
for a while to tap back into his astral ability. Just as he is
about to lose all hope, he is inspired by the spirit of his
mother, and taps into the full extent of his power.
He finds Jackson just in time to conclude the battle. Jackson is
ultimately destroyed using the same tools he had utilized
against his own past victims. Finally, the threats are
neutralized.
The story closes with the reveal of a new alliance consisted of
the remaining members of the Jackson and Samuels families.
Epilogue
The isolation the protagonists are pressured into, is a result
of an oppressive culture that most can relate to. Individuality
being discouraged is the reality we all have come to terms with
at some point. Because of this, some of us will be victims, but
others will demonstrate the will to fight back.
