Synopsis/Details
Blood Lines is a contemporary (15) coming of age drama with supernatural elements loosely based on the Pendle witches.
The story begins as a riot erupts at The Nowell Corporation building where protestors have gathered.
The theme of the story "family is more important than money" is stated when Joshua is sent to collect an ancient artefact (a white orb) by his Grandfather - John. We find that Josh is at odds with his father - Scott - who wants him to take control of his corporation one day. John encourages Joshua to learn about the supernatural, but Joshua begins to have nightmares involving a 17th-century execution of a group of suspected witches.
We find out about Scott's infidelity and the dynamic between John and Scott when he and his wife Jennifer argue about Joshua.
The antagonist Crowley (a cult leader) is shown, when he poses as a research assistant for John's friend Hopper.
At school Joshua and his love-interest Emily, stop bully's from tormenting their friends and more is revealed linking John to events happening in Joshua's life - especially with Emily.
When Emily's Grandfather is diagnosed with cancer, we move from Joshua to Emily as the story changes to her story 4 months later. A package arrives containing the white orb, which unbeknown to her contains the spirit of Jennet Device, a young 17th-century girl. At her new school and after being punched by the school bully - Michael, Emily returns home and is possessed by Jennet. As Jennet, she confronts Michael and leaves him horribly mutilated. Joshua finds out about Emily and sets off to find her with the help of his friends. Detective Greenwood also finds out about Emily and starts to close in while Crowley tries to abduct Emily in a train station swarming with police officers.
We find out more about Jennet's Story when Joshua brings Emily to John who explains Emily's predicament and they form a plan.
Meanwhile, Emily's mum is attacked at home by Jennet's dead mother as Officer Greenwood closes in on Emily and John is expelled from the family home when he and Scott argue about Joshua. Crowley's cult members kidnap Joshua and Emily's friends and John reveals his knowledge of the orb and Jennet's family, before Jennet (posing as Emily) kills him.
Joshua and Emily race to find the orb and heal Michael before Crowley finds them, but when he does a battle takes place between the cult members and the group of suspected witches ending when Joshua exorcises Jennet's spirit from Emily's body returning her to the spirit world.
Finally given responsibility of the orb, Joshua figures he'll use the orb for good, but has he made the right choice?
