Synopsis/Details
High-powered expatriate executive KYLIE ADAIR loves her frequent-flying mergers and acquisitions job. Because she came from a family that never celebrated Christmas, being away was never an issue, until her dear aging grandfather, FRANK OAKS, has a dream with a message from his late wife ETHEL. He requests the entire family gather at his childhood farmhouse for a Christmas celebration. Kylie hops on a plane and negotiates with the handsome, rugged new owner of the farm, CLAY LEAR, to rent the farm and hire him to help with the activities. Clay agrees but questions her intentions as a corporate raider.
Kylie and her parents, MACY and TOM, and Frank travel to Bayfield. They meet Clay, who shows them around the farm. Despite obvious physical attraction between Clay and Kylie, the friction of opposing worlds causes a barrier. Luckily Clay’s sweet mother, PAM, who owns the local café, and Clay’s daughter, AVA, soften their relationship. Clay confesses he has a dream to expand the farm and open a restaurant—all he needs are an investor and a chef.
Frank reveals the list of Christmas activities to complete his Christmas wish which is enthusiastically welcomed by RICKY, Kylie’s uncle. Kylie and Clay take the lead—but when some family members question Frank’s change of heart, he reveals a 60-year-old secret. He and Ethel loved Christmas and always celebrated it until one Christmas Eve when a Christmas tree caught fire and burned the house they had inherited from Frank’s grandfather. Upset at the loss, Frank and Ethel left Bayfield and Christmas behind. However, while recovering in the hospital, Frank had a dream of Ethel who asked him to gather everyone to celebrate Christmas again. When the family finally understands Frank’s past, they pull together to have the Christmas they all missed. But Clay remembers that his own grandfather told him about the fire that was caused by lightning. He and Kylie spearhead the investigation of the fire.
Kylie and Clay plan out all the festivities on the list, getting to know each other. With each day the attraction grows. Newfound love for the farm life and Clay shake Kylie, especially when Ricky decides to stay and help Clay as the resident chef. Clay pulls away from Kylie when he notices her reservation for staying and being secretive about her work. She is also conflicted as calls from work pull Kylie back to her old life
The day before Christmas Eve, lightning damages the town center electricity, canceling the tree lighting and movie night. Inspired, Frank offers to use the big Christmas tree on the farm as he and Ethel did so many years ago, and on Christmas Eve, the whole community comes together at the farm. Just before the tree lighting, Kylie tries to share her feelings with Clay, but he is upset she’s leaving. After Frank lights the tree, Kylie surprises everyone by granting Ava’s greatest wish: to have her uncle, PETER, and his family home for Christmas again. Clay realizes his mistrust was misguided. Peter reveals the Christmas miracle they have been hoping for: the fire years ago was caused by lightning. Frank is relieved of the guilt he’s carried and announces he is staying at the farm, along with Ricky, who likes Pam. Clay apologizes for his distrust, and Kylie and Clay start to reveal their feelings for each other.
Then Kylie gets a phone call from her boss where she is told she will head the new US account and can work remotely. Peter reveals he’s her new client and is investing in the farm. Kylie and Clay kiss, thankful for their Christmas miracles.
