Synopsis/Details
After losing his brother in a failed truck stop robbery, Owen holds up a Bed and Breakfast in the middle of nowhere. While dealing with the uncertainty of what to do next, he is left in the position of taking the guidance of his own hostage, Dave, an older man who mourns the recent loss of his wife.
As Owen hides and slowly bonds with Dave, Wilkes, a local dealer and the cause of his brother’s death, haunts the roads in his semi-truck. Terrorizing every living being he comes across in his efforts to find Owen. Sometimes briefly seeing him and chasing him down, only to barely miss and lose them. All in an attempt to retrieve a favorite lighter of his that Owen accidentally took.
At the same time Aubrey, a local deputy who has fallen out of love with her career choice, works to figure out what exactly happened at the truck stop that night. But what mainly keeps her focus is the rift that grows between her and her husband. Someone who wants a child to help continue on the family name. But after having 3 previous miscarriages, Aubrey struggles with the decision of continuing to try to accomplish her husband’s desires.
Over the course of a few nights Wilkes inches his way closer to his target. Vern and Dave find common ground after some early turmoil, and with Aubrey picking up the trail, it all comes to a climactic conclusion at Dave & Mary’s Bed & Breakfast.
