Synopsis/Details
This is the love story for a new generation. Ever since the dawn of time we have been curious about taboo relationships. The entertainment industry has been instrumental in altering society’s perceptions of what was considered to be “normal”. In the 60’s there was Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner? Which broached the subject of interracial relationships? Bridget loves Bernie, made light of interfaith relationships. The list of groundbreaking moments in entertainment goes on and on. The major outcome of these entertainment venues is the fact that they were transformational. The beginning of the twenty first century brought the acceptance of same sex relationships into our consciousness. Movies like Philadelphia, Ammonite changed the way society views alternate lifestyles. Shows like Transparent and The Danish Girl are once again challenging society to rethink it preconceived notions about gender. Judeo Christian values have been interpreted in a manner that is diametrically opposed to the transgendered lifestyle. Globally the issue of transgender rights has devolved into a binary choice. Thus the world of transgender and non-binary gender roles are under attack. Societies struggle to find the balance to between the demands of populous while protecting and recognizing the rights of marginalized citizens. Historically, humans are able to distance themselves from their abusive behaviors as long as their victims remain faceless and vilified. A Groovy Kind of Love aspires to remove the vail and allow societies to see that members of the transgendered community face the same daily life challenges that we all do.
