Synopsis/Details
In the summer of 1973, young James Deacon was involved in what should have been a fatal mini-bike accident in the middle of the Nevada desert. As he took his last breath, and began to lose consciousness forever, he barely saw the intense beam of red light that appeared from the heavens above and completely washed over his body. When his eyes finally fluttered open, the white light of Heaven didn’t greet him. Instead, he found himself on the ground, in the desert, completely healed of what were certainly fatal wounds. James called it a gift from God and rarely spoke of it again.
Fifteen years later when his only son, Ian, was involved in a catastrophic carnival accident, James was forced to relive that horrible moment again. As he scooped up his boy and ran through the desert at near super-human speed, he knew deep down it was a futile effort to make it to the hospital on time. Continuing to speed through the vast desert, the mysterious red light that saved him all those years ago, reappeared and as its healing powers washed over young Ian, this time there was a price to pay. When the light retracted, it took a shocked James Deacon with it.
Things were different for young Ian from there on out. As an adult he became an Osteopath, as it became evident that he had the gift of healing in his touch. On a rare visit from his now reclusive mother, Jane, they are surprised by an intruder who kidnaps them, mumbling something about getting them out of there for their own safety. Ian and Jane manage to ambush their captor and discover the hooded man is James Deacon…fifteen years after his disappearance, yet somehow, still only 32 years of age.
As they speed down the Nevada desert highway on their way to James’s hijacked spaceship, he informs them of a virus that is wiping out the alien race that abducted him all those years ago. James was able to escape their desperate experimental attempts of finding a cure through his human DNA, but now they are coming back to perform these same hideous experiments on Ian, the only known creature alive to have been born with partial human and partial alien DNA. Anyone that knows James knows that it’ll be a cold day in hell before he’ll let anyone harm his son. While racing through the desert trying to get to the spaceship before the mother ship discovers them, they hit every bump in the road imaginable. From the authorities at Nellis Air force base, who discover the ship before they get there, to the alien life form that has been sent down to retrieve Ian, nothing goes as planned, but as James always loved to say… “Never underestimate a Deacon… never.”
