“Beware, Wolf!” is a fantasy re-telling depicting the most well known werewolf trial in history. It explores the events leading to the execution of a man who was possibly the world's first serial killer, through an origin story that explores werewolf mythology and lore.
In rural 16th century Germany, a small town is terrorized. Cattle is mysteriously slaughtered, people are brutally murdered. What could be behind these terrible acts? Wild animals, a prehistoric creature, a serial killer, or something much more sinister? Traversing through the turbulent political atmosphere of that time, we examine the collision between different religious agendas and the motives and involvement of the Catholic church in the case. Peter Stumpp is a wealthy Protestant farmer, with an odd demeanor and too many secrets. Is he guilty of murder, or are the powers at be trying to create a narrative tailored to their interests, preying on the public’s fears? Emmet Schaffer, a Catholic friar with a scientific mind and an unrelenting need to uncover the truth, is called upon by the church to investigate. He firmly fights to uncover the truth, no matter the consequences. While struggling with dilemmas of loyalty and faith, his uncompromising search will end with a terrible realization - some truths are best left buried.
