Synopsis/Details
Dare has had the worst week of his life. Lost his woman, his job, and his apartment burned. Meanwhile across the city, Crash has finally had enough of her toxic relationship, so she decides to take matters into her own hands, gets dressed up, grabs a bottle of pills and heads out to the part of the city she’s never been. They meet at a bar, The Revolver. Dare offers to take Crash somewhere else upon learning that it’s her birthday. As they leave Crash meets Betty, Dare’s glorious hotrod, a black, 1971 Mach 1 Mustang. They take a short drive, Crash shares her story, Dare is less forthcoming. At the second bar, local street racers notice Betty in the parking lot and try to goad Dare into a race.The racer’s leader, Chon, insults Betty so Crash punches him out, starting a bar brawl. Dare get them out of the bar and derides Crash’s actions as the drive away, police and racers in pursuit They take Betty and opt to lay low and see a band while the heat dies down. Crash takes more pills in the bathroom. Dare mouths off to just the wrong guy at the concert and another fight breaks out, this time it’s Crash has almost gotten them out this time but Dare gets jumped and is dragged off by some of the racers. Crash can’t stop them but Dare but manages to get Betty’s keys to her. Crash uses Betty, scared to drive her, and follows them to a huge house party. Crash sets fire to the house to cause diversion so she can get Dare out. After getting away they hideout at Crash’s hotel room, sleeping together. Dare opens up, but Crash is intimidated by the intimacy and she finishes the bottle of pills in secret. Afterwards, Dare takes them back to The Revolver before last call. Before they go inside, Chon’s car pulls in behind them. The final chase is furious, ending when Dare tricks Chon into a drag race only for him to be caught by the pursuing police. They can finally relax, taking in a view from the top of a very tall parking structure, falling asleep. Dare wakes up to see Crash about to jump to her death. She confesses her plan was suicide, but the pills didn’t work. Distraught, he tells her if she jumps he jumps too, but Betty’s parking brake gives way and it takes both of them to keep her from rolling off the parking structure. They realize that the three of them need each other as they drive off into the sunrise.
