Synopsis/Details
When Mother Nature becomes critically ill due to the effects of climate change, she pays a visit to her only human son -- a clueless snow cone vendor named Bucky Barlow.
They spend time together and form a bond, but unfortunately her condition worsens. Bucky realizes it's now up to him to take her place, so he attempts to become a superhero and save the planet.
Unfortunately Bucky's shallow understanding of nature proves problematic. Furthermore, he can't fly. In fact, his only "power" is the ability to make a single measly hail stone fall from the sky. And his ill-fitting costume leads to ridicule from kids, not to mention a recurring wedgie.
In addition, he must contend with human complacency and a greedy politician who seeks to get rid of this trouble-making tree hugger.
Meanwhile, Bucky's mother worsens as nature spins out of control. And she learns that her only other son, Alexander -- who was once a mighty glacier -- has melted.
* Note: Nature plays a big role in the story, which was inspired by my time as a wilderness guide and park ranger. A previous draft of this script was a semifinalist in the ScreenCraft Comedy Screenplay Competition and had a Coverfly ranking of "Top 10%" of all scripts in the database.
My background: I'm a journalist, screenwriter and wilderness guide. I've won three Associated Press Managing Editors awards for feature writing. As a screenwriter, my films have won 40+ awards at film festivals. You can view my full credits on IMDB under "Jason K. Allen."
