Synopsis/Details
Dotty opens us up in the control office of a taxi and courier service. She speaks to someone who she is clearly familiar with, as Jason enters with drinks. After establishing that Dotty is speaking to an elderly lady who often calls, they both take calls. While Jason deals with a wrong number, Dotty takes a call from a hesitant man, who is acting suspicious and short on detail. He seeks a taxi for an ‘off the books’ ride. Without the required detail, Dotty cannot help and ends the call. Taking a personal call on her mobile, Dotty leaves the room and Jason takes the next firm call, and it is the same man, who’s tone unsettles Jason. The man comes out with an offer of money for the driver, which causes Jason to offer to discreetly do the job if the man quietly drops by the office. The man identifies himself as Toby. After Jason hides this from Dotty, he’s up for drinks again. Dotty takes the next call and it is a woman, age undefined, who identifies herself as Mrs Joy. She, too, is short on detail, but Dotty says she can’t help her, Mrs Joy pleads that she needs to ‘find Toby’. Jason becomes aware of Dotty repeating the name as he returns and is curious. Dotty ends the call, and, barely containing her amusement, relays what has been said to her. Jason does not find it funny and it becomes clear how much danger they could be in…

The Writer: Lanre Ajayi

I am in IT by profession, and writer by passion. I predominantly write short stories and short scripts, though I plan to venture into longer form when I find (or make) an opportunity. My initial genre of choice was thriller and drama, but in more recent years I have penned a few dark comedies, namely 'Get In, Get Done, Get Out' which is currently being pre-produced as a short film. I’ll be enjoying reading scripts on here and look forward to communicating with people (writers/reviewers/film-makers, etc)… Go to bio
