Synopsis/Details
Captain Cutlass: Space Pirate is intended as a TV animation for young children. The pilot episode details how Cutlass and his fearsome pirate crew (they're actually more cowardly than Cutlass will admit) travel through a time warp whilst sailing through the Bermuda Triangle on board their ship, the Golden Plunder. They arrive off the coast of Wales in the 21st century. Finding a newspaper blowing in the wind, Sammy, the cabin girl (who is the most intelligent and sensible of all the crew) sees a photograph of a space rocket blasting off into space. She shows the photo to Cutlass. He can't read but is excited to see that pirates have taken to the skies. Exploring the nearby coast, Cutlass and his crew spy a lighthouse. Cutlass immediately thinks that this is a 'sky ship' belonging to his enemies and sets about capturing it for himself. Through a series of comedic misadventures, the crew gain access to the lighthouse only to have an accident with several crates of dynamite which sees the lighthouse blast off into space just like a rocket. Once they have recovered their wits, the pirates discover the wonders of outer space travel, but their wonder is soon replaced by fear as they encounter the Piraliens and their evil queen...........
