Synopsis/Details
Taking place in 1989, it begins with an emergency police call to a multiple victim crime scene in a residential neighborhood: A father has murdered his family and then killed himself, and no one knows why. Least of all the first-to-arrive policeman, who discovers to his horror that one of those murdered was a young boy he was mentoring in the policeman's off-hours. And so begins a gradual descent into self-doubt and emotional collapse, as the policeman returns to his childhood home and tries to reconnect with his younger brother, a top student at a school for the blind; and the policeman's father, a retired contractor still suffering from the brutal memories of his imprisonment in a Japanese internment camp during World War Two. As the policeman tries to reconnect with his family, he also tries to reconnect with his estranged wife and their thirteen year old son, and his younger desire to be a fine artist. All while trying to make sense of a senseless tragedy and the effect of violence on men.
