Synopsis/Details
The film is about an out of work actor named Jack Mason who’s ready to give up his dream of making it big. But one more audition might just change his life. After nailing the read, he leaves the audition riding high, thinking he got the part that will restart his career. He encounters three teenagers with bad intentions on a parking garage elevator. They threaten him with a knife and he falls out of the open door and hits his head, hard. We next see Jack as a supporting actor in a few movies then as the leading man in “For Those About to Die”. The success of that movie gets him paired with a beautiful actress, Susan Parks in a blockbuster called “Easter Shores”. They marry, have twins and live in Manhattan Beach. His life is everything he wanted it to be. In short order: Jack becomes a top box office draw. He acts in a two movie series based on a detective, Matt Zimmer, created just for him. Susan is caught having an affair with a co-star on a movie on location in France. Having to work with his cheating wife, he has a meltdown on the set of Eastern Shores 2. Production has to be shut down for a week. He resorts to drinking and cocaine but when Eastern Shores 2 comes out, it's another box office hit. He moves out of the house and they divorce but he is able maintain a pleasant relationship with Susan and the twins. A sudden onset of a debilitating case of tinnitus threatens his sanity and prevents him from working. Depressed from the tinnitus and the divorce, Jack attempts to end his life by taking an overdose of sleeping pills only to wake from a month long coma courtesy of the teenagers on the elevator. He is told his rise to stardom was not real. At first he refuses to believe it was all a dream but slowly the realization sinks in and he has a hard time not thinking about Susan and the kids. Will he be able to face the harsh reality of his pre-coma life and leave the dream behind?
