Synopsis/Details
JIM WARNER sneaks into Area 51, disguised as a test pilot/astronaut trainee with a stolen keycard. All the previous test subjects have died due to failed human trials for a classified time travel experiment. He believes it’s his only chance to find his father who disappeared when he was a child. Jim activates the time machine and lands in the past, unsure of where or when he is but driven by the hope of finding his father. Jim finds his father, PETER WARNER, but doesn’t recognise him at first. He asks angrily “who are you and what do you want? His father says “Jim it’s me.” His father remains distant and Jim asks “why did you leave me?” Jim’s father explains the sacrifice he made and says he designed the time machine to make money to provide for his family and abandoned him to protect him from the corrupt agents who wanted to steal the machine. The father knew the agents would kill him if he stayed so he chose to disappear believing it was the only way to keep Jim safe. Jim finally understands and realises his father’s telling the truth and hugs him. The father urges him to let go as changing the past could have dangerous consequences. The corrupt agents arrive and threaten Jim. Attempting to seize the machine and cover up the truth like they did with his father as he was one of the original test pilots. Jim has a choice to stay in the past to fix things or return to the present and accept that some things cannot be changed and to let go. Jim’s father gives him some time to go back to the present and takes a few of the agents down so he can escape. Jim activates the time machine, leaving the past behind. He returns to 2013 and it ends with Jim throwing the time machine into the ocean and finally letting go.
