In the not so distant future, a law is passed aptly named equal retribution. A law that literally takes an eye for an eye to the next level when it allows for people who are convicted of heinous crimes against children to be executed and resuscitated according to the numbers of crimes they committed. Derek Sanders is one such lowlife who was convicted of the rape and murder of three young girls.
Derricks to be sent to the death gurney and resuscitated three times for these crimes.
Clive Washington is a small town detective who investigates Derek Sanders and ultimately is responsible for sending Derek to the death chamber. Then the day comes when Derek is sent to his first of three executions. While dead on the gurney, Derek visits an afterlife where he witnesses firsthand the atrocities perpetrated against the little girls by the actual killer. When brought back to life, Derek tries to relay this information to Clive but to no avail.
As the executions progress, Derek continues to gather clues in the afterlife and attempts to prove his innocence by talking to anyone who will listen as to the possible identity of the true murderer. However, Derek has a date with destiny and a third trip to the execution chamber. By now, Clive is convinced of Derrick's innocence and races against time to try to prove his innocence. However, as Derek takes his third and final trip to the afterlife, it seems that sometimes even paying with your life isn't enough.
Sometimes, it requires coming back to set things right.
