Synopsis/Details
All Stan Gable wants is to surprise his wife with the exotic honeymoon they never had. But after a few failed attempts at compiling the money without her knowing, he will have to do something he never wanted to do again: play baseball. See, when his dad suddenly dies, Stan’s mom asks him to take his dad’s place at a fantasy camp with his sister, Becky. Thing is, it was his dad who ruined baseball for Stan by betting on his little league games. To make it even less appealing, he and Becky have grown apart in recent years since he had his own family and she isn’t always the most pleasant to be around, mainly because she blames others for her plights in life. But desperate Stan says he’ll go – if his mom pays him to. Surprised by his shrewd move she agrees on one condition: he only gets his money if he helps Becky win a game to honor their dad. (Becky had a much better relationship with their pop.) Stan figures that’ll be easy enough. Until they arrive. Stan will be up against his aging body, an opposing team of ringers, his own teammates of varying talent, the agenda of the camp owner, Becky’s overt and covert needs, oh, and actually confronting the life and death of his dad. Will he get everything he wants? Probably not. But maybe that’s not really what he needs.

The Writer: Jay Manheimer

Hi. I was raised on the mean streets of suburban St. Louis. I've made a living as a writer since I was 21. But that was in advertising, which carried me to Chicago for the better (and some say worst!) part of my life. Years ago, I chucked that steady income, reasonable co-pay, and access to a bar on every corner for the thrilling uncertainty of freelance work and writing things I want to write... in LA. Now, here I am. Just a So-Cal guy trying to surf, trying to stay insprired, and trying to fill out an eloquent bio to impress you. Thank you for reading. Go to bio
