Harlan was just a young man of 18 when he went to jail for seven years for a DUI manslaughter conviction that killed his girlfriend’s sister. He’s being released back into the world and coming home to a father in the midst of a mid-life crisis and a mother who is carrying on an illicit affair with one of her patients. FAR FROM HOME tells the story of a man trying to find his place in a world where everything went wrong when it wasn’t supposed to.

The Writer: Victoria Ellis Nye

I am an East Coast based screenwriter who finds my purpose in creating stories to connect the world around me. I am a 2015 Virginia Screenplay Competition winner, a 2012 Blue Cat Short Screenplay Competition Quarter Finalist , a 2010 Amazon Studios Screenwriting Competition Semi-Finalist, and a 2005 Virginia Screenplay Competition Finalist . I am currently focused on creating a family with my wife and working on my next screenplay. I've decided that I need to write more for my "people." What that means is that I am going to create compelling stories with LGTBQ characters where it's the norm and not the token. Go to bio
