Synopsis/Details
The 37th Dimension, aka The Dimension of Magic, is a wondrous fantastical place filled with eye-popping spectacle. CATALINA is a Spellcaster-in-Training prepping to take the big test that will make her a Spellcaster First Class, but even despite the encouragement of her familiar - a cat named ICKY - she can’t get over her fear of pure magic due to it causing the death of her mother. ZORR is a Dark Wizard hellbent on taking control of the 37th Dimension, and his plan to do that requires obtaining the incredibly powerful SCEPTER OF DYNAMIC INFLUENCE. Catalina fails her test due to lack of self-confidence at the same time Zorr and his SQUADRON REPULSIVE defeat the rest of the Spellcasters and steal the Scepter. Catalina takes it upon herself to get the Scepter back, and thanks to a spell that accidentally backfires - she does. She and Icky make a hasty getaway on her loyal broom BROOM. Zorr chases Catalina through the sky, damaging the Scepter in the process. Unaware of this, Catalina attempts to use the Scepter to get away - “Get us as far from here as possible. Somewhere nobody would ever go.” The Scepter crackles with magical energy, then UNLEASHES AN EYE-BLINDING FLASH! In the 3rd Dimension, aka Where We Are, the sky rips open and spits Catalina, Icky and Broom out into a landfill somewhere in central New Jersey, where things take a turn for the worse. Much worse. Catalina soon discovers there’s no magic here. She has no powers, Icky can’t speak, Broom can’t fly, and THE SCEPTER IS GONE. Catalina must now navigate this strange non-magical land and her encounters with the people who live there as she attempts to find a way to restore the magic that can get them home. She may be stuck, but at least she doesn’t have to worry about Zorr. Or does she?

The Writer: Paul Zeidman

Hi there. I'm an award-winning screenwriter based in San Francisco. While open to working in any genre, I'm always up for creating a ripping yarn that grabs the viewer and takes them on a rollercoaster ride of thrills and excitement. I love to craft a story that simultaneously showcases a character's emotional journey set amidst high-octane action sequences, along with a couple of jokes thrown in for good measure. I'm also a notoriously meticulous script editor and proofreader, with the ability to spot a rogue comma or misspelled word at a hundred paces (give or take 99 paces). When not writing, rewriting, or reading scripts, I enjoy watching movies, reading comic books, running somewhat… Go to bio
