Synopsis
Float Away follows the dramatic ordeal of Eliza, a pregnant woman who finds herself stranded at sea after a devastating tsunami strikes her coastal home. With only a survival pod and her faithful retriever, Rox, as companions, Eliza must navigate the unforgiving ocean, facing relentless waves, dwindling supplies, and an uncertain fate.
Trapped in the pod, Eliza struggles to maintain her sanity and hope. Her efforts to communicate with her husband, Morris, a submarine commander engaged in a rescue mission — are complicated by poor connectivity and failing equipment. As days stretch into a seemingly endless ordeal, Eliza's isolation deepens, and haunted by guilt from a past indiscretion. A surprise call from Jerry, a man from her past, suggests he might be the father of her unborn child, adding emotional turmoil to her physical struggles.
The pod is tossed by violent storms and attacked by an unseen sea creature, testing Eliza's resilience to its limits. When Rox makes a daring swim toward a distant ship in search of help, Eliza is left alone, fearing for both her survival and that of her baby. As her labor begins, Eliza finds herself fighting against time, pain, and her fears to give birth alone amidst the stormy sea.
In a final desperate push, Eliza fires off a flare into the dark sky, hoping for a miracle. Just as her strength falters, Morris and his rescue team arrive. Reunited at last, Eliza and Morris embrace their newborn daughter, who they discover is indeed their child. Amidst the chaos and uncertainty, they find a renewed sense of love and commitment, ready to face whatever challenges lie ahead.
