Synopsis/Details
Melantha, the owner of a flower shop, meets Aliana in the tattoo parlour next door when she goes to ask Jordan, Aliana's boss and girlfriend, to turn down her music. Aliana later visits Melantha's shop with a bruised cheek and they become friends. After being invited to the parlour to celebrate Aliana's birthday, Melantha meets Will and he tells her about Aliana and Jordan's past. Jordan humiliates Aliana and Melantha makes things worse by accusing Aliana of being too weak to stand up for herself before leaving. Ashamed of her behaviour, Melantha calls Timothy who tells her to apologise to Aliana. She does so shortly before Timothy arrives home with his pregnant wife, Idina. Aliana gets beaten by Jordan but escapes and rushes to Melantha's home. Idina treats her injuries before she and Timothy go home and Aliana sleeps on the sofa. When she wakes, Melantha comforts her and asks her not to go back to Jordan, revealing that she went through similar trauma when she was raped ten years earlier. Aliana accepts that Jordan doesn't love her and decides to live with Melantha instead. Although she no longer lives with Jordan, Aliana's still employed by her so she returns to work. Jordan tries to assault and fire her but Will intervenes and convinces her to let Aliana stay. He then encourages Aliana to tell Melantha how she feels. Aliana does so and they start a relationship. However, when Aliana starts to try and get intimate with Melantha, the latter pushes her away. Aliana goes to Timothy and Idina who give her Doctor Francis' number. Melantha refuses to see the psychiatrist until Aliana moves out to stay with her friend, Jennifer. Realising that her PTSD upsets Aliana as much as her, Melantha finally starts therapy with Doctor Francis and realises that she is asexual. Jordan overhears Timothy and Alaina discussing Melantha's therapy sessions and torments her outside her home. Melantha files a restraining order and reconciles with Aliana, who accepts Melantha's asexuality. Idina goes into labour early, causing Melantha to rush to the hospital to support her and Timothy. Meanwhile, Jordan attacks Aliana, having found a loophole in the restraining order which only tells her to stay away from Melantha. Aliana is rescued by Will and treated in the same hospital where Idina gives birth. After Jordan goes to prison, Melantha and Aliana decide to live a celibate life together.

The Writer: Thomas Norton

Hello everybody. I'm an autistic screenwriter who specialises in writing complex, nuanced characters. I've always wanted to be a storyteller of some kind and eventually settled on screenplays. It took me a while to get the hang of them since my original writing style was very different but being on the spectrum has helped my storytelling become disciplined and focussed. However, although I'm good at putting ideas, stories and characters on paper, I hate putting my face on camera (the photo's only here because I thought it was mandatory), I struggle with social interactions and I constantly wonder if I'm stepping over a line that I'm not aware of. I try to be professional but struggle with… Go to bio
