Synopsis/Details
THE TALES: We begin in 1730 as EMMET, a junior reporter gets an assignment to cover an upcoming witch trial for BEN FRANKLIN’s Pennsylvania Gazette. Emmet falls in love with AGATHA, one of the accused that lives with her half-Lenape sister WINONA, in a wigwam outside of town.  While the first episode covers the witch trial and the unknown enemy working to thwart Emmet’s investigation, we continue with these characters in the second episode that sees the birth of the Jersey Devil. In the third episode, we see an older Franklin return along with Emmet’s grandson who embarks on a journey culminating in a battle with the original Headless Horseman in 1776.  Each episode contains an independent story involving an American Legend with recurring characters that struggle to find love and meaning in a dangerous and supernatural world. THE HORROR: The horror in Foundings is supernatural and rooted in history. The clash of cultures, religions, and beliefs. Battles between armies, civilizations, and ultimately good and evil. Supernatural forces and beings remain mostly obscured, hidden off-screen in our character’s fear. The suspense is palpable and pervasive. The other type of horror experienced is the human kind. Greed, corruption, cruelty, violence, and death generate their own horrors as our characters navigate the landscape of the New World.
