Synopsis/Details
TRENT CALHOUN (36), is tasked to secure a prized #1 Pick REESE RODGERS (21) during the American Football Federation’s annual draft in Las Vegas. When Rodgers is drafted higher than expected, Trent is caught with his pants down as he watches in shock from the hotel room of his latest one-night-stand. Trent is immediately fired for his blunder – hotel room closed out; credit card canceled; company car revoked. Trent goes to the hotel lounge to drown his sorrows where he spots QUINN MARQUEZ (34), an idealistic ex-Brazilian National Soccer star and JAMES WELTON (26). Quinn has no desire to pursue major sports talent and James, full of enthusiasm but a naive textbook understanding of the sports agency landscape. Their small boutique agency Total Sports, Inc. (TSI), has come to the draft to get their feet wet ahead of the signing of their possible low-round client. James offers Trent his business card after their happenstance conversation in which Trent can clearly see James and TSI are out of their league. With his eye always targeting a pretty face, Trent eyes Quinn as they leave. Trent watches the draft on the TV above the bar as DEVON SHERMAN continues to drop in the draft due to his off-field liability. Trent spots Sherman and his CREW in hotel lobby and the wheels begin to turn. Trent uses his guile to get an impromptu face-to-face with Sherman, but with a no-compete clause blocking him, he must convince James’ agency to front the deal. ANDI MCMAHON (30s), is the know-all, see-all, when it comes to all things sports -- something she has gleaned from her penchant for gambling. Andi is also the street-smart guardian of TSI, with a 9mm stashed in her purse as proof. When Trent offers to bring Sherman on board, Andi holds her suspicion, but lets Trent know the consequences if he steps out of line. SALVADOR MARQUEZ (60s), is managing partner of TSI and Quinn’s uncle. He holds the financial reins of the agency and its success but sees himself as a sixty-year-old Trent, whose biggest attraction is the money he flaunts. His philandering has pushed TSI into precarious financial straits. Salvador is charmed by Trent and overrides Quinn and Andi’s concern. Trent’s improvisation and savvy closes the deal, but the strings that were pulled and the details that were hidden will shift the odds that this outcome and the many that follow will be anything but a win-win. . . . . . . . . THE FIRST SEASON ARC: TSI grows from a fledging unknown agency to a thorn in the side of the big three as Trent pursues bigger names and increases his reputation while he deals with his petulant father’s illness. James naiveté and his quirky clients will contribute a diverse A- or B-storyline. Quinn battles with Trent to maintain her ethical and idealistic mission for the agency. Andi’s struggles with her gambling addiction putting the agency in the sights of organized crime. The ensemble cast is led by Trent who is driven by his father Bernie, an ex- professional hockey tough-guy, who got taken advantage of during his day. Growing up on the road alongside his father has shaped Trent’s decision-making for his clients and how he deals with women. As Trent hunts the big fish, Quinn, who holds her own jaded view of the treatment of high-profile athletes will follow a more idealistic path. Her low-profile clients and ethical expectations puts her at odds with Trent. Each episode will have a new client, some from very unexpected sports -- skateboarding, X-games stars, roller derby queens, as well as the high-profile athletes and issues trending in today’s major sports.

The Writer: Mario Waller

As an art director for both marketing agencies and publications I have had a creative mix of visual as well as copywriting exposure to vividly convey many types of products, events and services. This experience led me to screenwriting, a longtime passion, which I have forged recent success and recognition in Page International and Austin Film Festival contest entries. I have completed several feature and pilot projects in the drama genre in which I have strong interest and I hope to fully shift my focus to screenwriting in the foreseeable future. Go to bio
