Something's been killing off Junior's chickens... and it ain't Infectious Bronchitis.

‘...boredom eats me like cancer/down here on the farm’ (UK Subs).

It’s not the boredom you’ll have to worry about eating you. Down on Junior’s Farm, something far more insidious waits.

There, something hungry stalks the fields. Something with a hankering for white meat and old Junior’s fresh out of chicken today...

The setting and time: late night, rural USA. A land of cornfields and rolling blacktop.

Emergency dispatchers twiddle their thumbs. Local cops browse the sports pages in an all-night diner, over coffee and donuts.

So it’s an upset to the natural order when a distraught Junior calls Kendrick Police Station.  Whatever ate his flock is back. The farm hand’s nowhere to be found. And now Junior’s holed up in the kitchen.  The weapons he has at hand: only a pitchfork and a firm grasp of animal husbandry, to keep the ravenous beast at bay until assistance can arrive.

JUNIOR (V.O.) - I'm ready for ya. Chicken killin' sonuvabitch. Show yourself.

Eventually, help takes the form of Officers Charlie and Murphy.

But this mysterious cock-killer has little respect for the rule of law. Quickly, the cops find themselves facing down a creature far removed from the laws of nature, as well.

Soon, only one officer remains standing: Stanley Evers… who vows to track down the beast before it kills again.

So Stanley takes a look in that creepy old farmhouse.  The one with the blood spattered kitchen; the odd smell coming from the microwave. And he gets the unshakable feeling all’s not right in the basement, either...

Can Stanley triumph? Or will this cursed night prove the end of Kendrick community policing itself?

What is cooking in Junior’s kitchen?

Will anyone be left to settle the diner’s tab?

Delving beneath the surface of small-town USA, Steve Clark’s Junior’s Farm serves up a deliciously dark slice of rural carnage.

Not to mention a fast paced creature short with B-movie stylings, skewed humour and those little flourishes that add an eerie depth to the read.  So dig in deep…

…and enjoy the meal!
