Synopsis/Details
Ben strolls towards his accommodation for his first year of university with excitement; however, the second years currently occupying the space, cause him a massive hassle. The first of which is the task of taking the bins downstairs with the more level-headed leader, Lance. Upon their return, they are greeted with piles of filth thrown into the living room thanks to Ryan and Danny. As they swim amongst the mess, Ben discovers the horrors of the kitchen fridge and cupboard. This leads to him asking how the boys live in this mess, causing Ryan to spring up with glee. Ryan exhibits the three key benefits of living amongst your own filth. These include the benefit of décor and odour that plagues his room, also the benefit of not washing your dishes after a fancy cook. During the cook Lance become increasingly agitated at the mess that is building and is drawn, through an ad on his phone, to subway for lunch. At Subway, Lance is greeted with a slogan on the ground, ‘Keep the planet clean and do the Subway Shuffle.’ He chuckles and wishes it were that easy, then follows its command. However, as he shuffles, something awakens inside of him causing a twisted smile to emerge. Back at home, Ryan pronounces that the third benefit is the lack of uninvited guests, as if on cue, Lance returns upstairs. Lance asks Ben if he can pick up some of the ham left on the wall. Ryan and Danny fight back but Ben speaks up for himself exclaiming how their lifestyle is atrocious. After picking up the ham Ben is frozen and Lance forces him under his control. Ryan and Danny escape to the streets only to be attacked by others who have been converted by the shuffle. After hiding out in the abandoned building next door, they begin to understand maybe they should start cleaning their mess for their friends’ sake. Danny recons for an escape and returns only to trick Ryan into being converted to the shuffle himself. In the apartment: Ben, Ryan and Danny clean as Lance relaxes with a beer. They realise, under its possession, the shuffle can be quite peaceful. The boys reconcile with one another explaining their faults and Lance leaves them to clean until it is spotless.
