Synopsis/Details
An “alien”, Isyrus, has arrived and his mission is to decide if the planet Earth should continue to exist. He lands in Little Nevada, population 986. He meets Noah at the motel. Noah, who lives with his aging grandma while his father and mother battle for custody of him. He almost never tells the truth, even simple things become fabricated with him. Noah’s grandma runs the bed and breakfast and he works extra hard to keep it running. It is this relationship between Isyrus and Noah that builds over the days that follow as Isirus becomes the missing influence and guide in Noah’s life. He teaches him to fight, helps with the motel, and gives him a real personal connection. In the spirit of their new friendship, Isyrus tells Noah the purpose of his visit to Earth. Noah teaches Isyrus about humans and their interactions. However, the most important lesson is that humans are a triumph of potential. A race that is willing to be wrong so often and still keep going, is one of unlimited ability to do something. He just can’t figure out what. Isyrus makes three mistakes a century and must decide if changing his recommendation on Earth should be one. Will Noah lose his planet and his best friend?

The Writer: Heather Maclean

Raised in Lockerbie, Scotland, then the Lake District, I grew up surrounded by literature and beauty. My inclination to travel took me across Europe to Japan and then to the States. There I married, have three kids (not so kiddish now), developed a love of ice hockey, and advanced my education and writing. I hold a doctoral degree in educational technology from Pepperdine University and I have taken many screenwriting classes officially and unofficially through UCLA Extension and CalArts (through my book-writing partner). I consistently receive positive feedback on my work and look forward to advancing my skills and writing career. Go to bio
