Synopsis/Details
Full Logline: "A petty criminal finds himself in a heroic new body and a fortune in galactic credits...but now, he must decide whether to escape with the stolen cash or pursue love in a life or death struggle between humans and aliens on a strange exoplanet." Fleeing the authorities of a penal mining camp with stolen cash box on board, scrawny galactic criminal Hugh Starke's small craft crash lands. When he awakens, he finds himself in a heroic new body - but with a problem: his mind is being controlled by a hateful yet seductive alien female bent upon the destruction of her human opponents. The humans themselves, vengeful because they're convinced Starke (in his new body) betrayed them to the aliens, wish to destroy him. At first, Starke simply wants to "get the hell out of Dodge" - but then he is struck by the "love bug" for a stunningly beautiful human female warrior. In an effort to help her, as well as to throw off the shackles of mind control, Starke finds himself in the depths of a strange, gaseous sea in an attempt to make contact with a race of sea-people who might be sympathetic to the humans - only to become involved in their plans to gain domination over both the humans and their rival aliens by resurrecting dead warriors and turning them against their own people. How does Starke resolve his dilemma and still gain the love of the beautiful female protagonist? Adapted from a 1946 public domain story by Leigh Brackett and Ray Bradbury, but instead of Venus this adaptation is located on a tidally locked exoplanet of perpetual twilight. Thought control, resurrection of the dead, body-mind exchange, and yes - an epic love story: these are the elements comprising this classic science fiction tale, now adapted for the screen.
