Synopsis/Details
Metacom fought to defend his people from the onslaught of English colonists led by a vicious frontiersman, Royce Hunt, an enemy of total raw brutality. An Epic True Story of the First and Last King of America. Audiences will become deeply invested in Metacom as they are drawn to his humanity; even among the depths of tragedy, the viewers will feel a true and genuine emotional connection. We will see the unique strategies developed by Metacom against the English. In the first few pages, Metacom, out hunting with his son is confronted by Royce Hunt, an English frontier soldier and one mean son-of-a-bitch who takes their deer, and lays claim to their Wampanoag land. This inciting incident with Royce sets the tone for rest of this story, and he is pushed to the limit. He has tried to keep the peace, but it is becoming increasingly impossible for him to ignore these threats of an impending war. Even though the odds are weighed heavily against him, Metacom is willing to sacrifice everything to save his tribes and family. We will witness the unlikely relationship between Metacom and Roger Williams, a great Statesman and Founding Father of Providence, Rhode Island. Williams plays a key role as a loyal friend to Metacom, and their friendship creates an interesting dynamic between “Savage” and Statesman. Wootonek, Metacom’s infertile wife, convinces a young Indian Maiden named Kanti, to consider bearing him a son. Reluctant to accept her advances, because of his deep love for this wife, we eventually see how Kanti brings Metacom into her arms. Ancient and mystical traditions are woven throughout the story, as Metacom reveals his deep love for his people, his homeland and his freedom. There is the battle of canoes against an English war sloop in Mount Hope Bay, and how Metacom wins that encounter. Kidnapped by John Alderman aka Wabanee and his ‘praying Indians scouts’, who work for the English deliver Metacom’s wife and son onto the Slave Ship: Bermudian Petrel. We witness Metacom’s heroic, heart-breaking fight to free them. We will witness the incredible and emotional Great Swamp Fight—a battle that is the beginning of the end. In the climax, on the edge of Mount Hope Bay, Metacomet and Royce Hunt engage in hand-to-hand combat. Metacom wins that fight, crushing Royce Hunt’s skull. As he raises his war club for a final strike, he is shot in the back by John Alderman aka Wabanee, the ‘praying Indian’ who then decapitates Metacom’s head and hands. On the opposite shore of Mount Hope Bay, as Metacom takes his last breath, Kanti gives birth to his son, while the blood of her delivery seeps into the land that Metacom loved so dearly. EPILOGUE: WRITTEN ON THE SCREEN: As we all know, history has a tendency to repeat itself. Native American Apology Resolution: April 30, 2009 In the Senate of the United States, a Joint resolution: To acknowledge a long history of official depredations and ill-conceived policies by the Federal Government regarding Indian tribes and offer an apology to all Native Peoples on behalf of the United States. Even today, the terrible toll of human devastation within their Reservations persists, including the desecrations of their sacred grounds. Only recently, another example were the protests over the Dakota Access Pipeline. Despite the centuries of incredible obstacles, to this day, all Native Americans still persevere in their struggle for their undeniable rights as the First People of America. However, it will always be Metacom the First and Last King that began this heroic journey. This screenplay received a Strong Consider from The Creative Artist Agency (CAA) It has also won Seven Finalist Awards, including a Special Jury Award from the Westfield New York Film Festival. Great Coverage from various competitions. Furthermore, Native American Actor Martin Senimester would be perfect in the role of Metacom. There is also a great antagonist role as well.
