Logline:
As WW II nears its end, members of a poor family in London's home front struggle to maintain their good spirit amidst a barrage of horrific, space-age weapons unleashed by the Nazis.
Synopsis/Details:

This is a fictional treatment of a tragic historical event, much like Cameron’s "Titanic".

The climax follows events up to November 25, 1944, when a single Nazi V2 ballistic missile devastated a department store on New Cross Road in Britain. It was the single worst bombing of the entire blitz on English territory, with 168 killed and hundreds injured:

So, similar to Jack and Rose on the Titanic, my story's widowed mother Elsa, her daughters Rebecca, 20, Maggie, 16, and son Sam, 9, didn't really exist. But ordinary people just like them did. As the seemingly never-ending conflict that was WWII dragged drearily on, they faced down the fearful, new, relentless missile threat with courage, humour and the undying love of family.

"New Cross" is also a story that hasn't been told! In my research, I found only a collection of survivor's stories, and a documentary. Yet, it was the single worst bombing of the blitz on Britain during WW II.

My view is that this war-time story could be done in one of two ways: The big-budget Spielbergian reenactment, or the lower budget BBC take, with plenty of archival footage, shot in the older parts of Britain that remain.

The Writer: Steve Garry

I wrote my first screenplay in 2008, at the age of 52. It was a surprise, yet predicable too, for composition was my favorite subject in my earliest years of elementary school. But somewhere between the ages of 10 and 52, I must have felt that writing wasn't a serious or possibly an attainable career. My writing methodology is unique because I use many of the same skills I used for decades as a software programmer. The stories must be both "logical" and "bug free". Oh, and hopefully, thought-provoking, entertaining, suspenseful, or humorous, often in the same script, with captivating characters and story lines, especially given the complex themes I often take on in my work.
