Synopsis/Details
A rockslide uncovers a portal to another dimension, allowing its inhabitants to cross into our world. Creatures that appear to be nothing more than shadows. Pitch-black silhouettes. Featureless. Evil. With one singular goal: our annihilation. At a nearby resort, front desk clerk Deanna prepares for the incoming blizzard, unaware the invasion’s begun, or that her husband, Cole, a trucker, was the first casualty. When night falls and the storm begins to rage, the creatures make their move, sticking to the shadows, piicking the guests and staff off one by one. When the power goes out, Deanna gathers the survivors in the clubhouse, where they huddle around the fireplace, both for warmth as well as protection from the strange creatures gathering outside.
When dawn arrives, Deanna realizes they’re trapped. Cut off from the outside world by over four feet of snow. With eight survivors and only one snowmobile, there’s no way off the mountain. Worse, there seem to be hundreds of creatures lurking in the shadows, waiting to strike. A few of the survivors, Kelvin, Maya, and Hector, head off to seal the portal, using dynamite from a construction site, while Deanna and the others look for supplies. As they search the cabins, the creatures attack. Deanna realizes the light burns them and uses a flashlight to fight them off. As night begins to fall, and the creatures gather in the growing shadows, Deanna’s flashlight begins to grow dim. When the flashlights go dark, the creature descends upon them, but just before they attack, Maya and Kelvin arrive with the cavalry; several army Humvees. They’re saved, the portal’s been sealed, but hundreds, possibly thousands, of creatures have already made it through.
