Synopsis/Details
Set in a near-future world, OVERride explores the dangers of autonomous intelligent technology. Amy, a junior doctor, boards her AI-driven car to get to her crucial pathology exam. The ride takes a sinister turn when the AI (Aiden) ignores commands, locks her inside, and heads towards a lake. Amy discovers she's not the only victim of a mass malfunction affecting UB Corporation’s Aiden users. As Amy fights to regain control, her resourcefulness and knowledge of languages become her tools for survival - by speaking Cornish, which the AI does not understand. With the remote help of her psychologist uncle Denzel, she manages to override Aiden's control guard rails, narrowly averting her own death. Meanwhile, at UB Corporation, the executives coldly assess the casualties, revealing a culture of detachment and damage control. The film ends on a chilling note as the company's founder orders a patch to block Amy’s workaround, ensuring the secrecy of their failures. OVERride is a suspenseful thriller that highlights the precarious balance between technological innovation and ethical responsibility.
