Synopsis/Details
After being bounced from her prestigious New York City hospital, Dr. Rachel Powers is on a mission to save St. Morgan’s School of Medicine, turn it into a gem of academia, and maybe even get a statue out of it. Too bad her cousin, Dr. Roland “Rolly” Charles, has been holding the place together with duct tape and charm (mostly duct tape). Powers’ grand entrance? A jungle cart tour exposing outdated PR photos, overgrown lawns, questionable HR policies, and a quirky staff that’s been in the sun too long— welcome to paradise. Meet the team: Dr. Pansy Lim, who believes every ailment can be cured with her homeopathic “elixirs” (don’t ask, you don’t want to know). Dr. Andy Knutt, a walking disaster who always manages to be in the wrong place at the worst time. And Nardus Bradley, the groundskeeper/shuttle driver/bartender/whatever. Handy and hot? Yes, please. Powers hijacks Dr. Lim’s anatomy class, setting students up with the only patient they can’t kill, a human cadaver. Every week they dissect a part of the body, but today it’s just about what’s on the surface. Examine and diagnose, folks! Who’s that in designer scrubs sneaking into class late? Filthy rich legacy student Mimi Biddle, whose surname is plastered everywhere . Meanwhile, Jorge Dos Santos, the farm boy scholarship student, can barely keep up. There’s Abbi Jobs, a wicked smaht hypochondriac doing her darndest to suck up to Powers. But Powers ain’t got time for that. First day of rounds! Powers introduces a patient with a rash and... constipation? Why is there a room full of chickens and tropical fruit in the hospital? You mean the alternative payment room. Lim takes the students on a wild tour. Turns out you don’t need a license to drive a jungle cart. Meanwhile, Rolly and Powers head to the Wet Willy, a bar and unofficial teachers' lounge, where faculty bet on which student will crack first. After Powers misdiagnoses a patient, it’s Mimi, whose only diagnosis until now was “eww” , that saves the day. Powers is frustrated, Rolly's hiding secrets, and things get heated. In their argument, the truth comes out: Powers was fired by the New York hospital that supported St. Morgan’s, leaving the school and her career in peril. Powers and Rolly acknowledge things have to change. But you first! After a tough day, Powers seeks peace in her staff bungalow— but guess who’s her new neighbor? Mimi. Hold on tight, Dr. Powers—this is just the beginning.
